Upscale Prints is a New Zealand–based 3D printing and digital manufacturing studio. We are driven by a passion for creating cool things and turning ideas into high-quality physical products.

We specialise in custom 3D printing, product design, 3D scanning, and small-scale manufacturing. We work with individuals, designers, and small businesses across Aotearoa. From one-off custom jobs to short production runs, we focus on accuracy, reliability, and delivering great results.

Designed In-House & Licensed Artist Designs

Much of our product range is designed in-house. This allows us to maintain high standards and continually refine our designs. We also produce licensed designs from other artists, enabling us to print and sell their work under formal arrangements while supporting their creativity. This includes collaborations with creative brands such as Manawa Tangata.

3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering

We offer professional 3D scanning services for more complex projects. This allows us to capture existing parts or objects and convert them into accurate digital models. 3D scanning is ideal for reverse engineering, reproducing discontinued components, modifying existing parts, or creating custom-fit designs. Combined with our design and 3D printing services, it ensures accuracy from the very start of a project.

Founder-Led & Supported by a Skilled Team

Upscale Prints was founded by Barny, a hands-on maker with a strong passion for design, problem-solving, and digital manufacturing. Barny runs the main print farm in Ōtaki and is involved in every stage of the process from design and scanning through to printing and finishing. This ensures quality control and consistent results on every project.

Supporting the studio is a small, capable team:

Dan runs our print farm in Upper Hutt and is our master of props. He spends his time creating impressive life-size replicas inspired by sci-fi and fantasy worlds, bringing a deep understanding of scale, detail, and finishing to our production work. Dan can also be found at the Brewtown Farmers Market in Upper Hutt most Sundays, connecting with the local community with our range of consumer-ready products.

Tyla, Barny’s daughter, supports day-to-day operations and represents Upscale Prints at local markets. She also leads design work on her own brand, Manawa Tangata, bringing strong creative direction and an eye for meaningful, well-considered design.

Looking Ahead

We’re continually expanding our capabilities. Current and upcoming developments include:

• UV resin printing, focusing on custom LEGO MOC elements such as printed bricks
• Exploring laser engraving and cutting services
• Expanding our display stand range, designed for collectors and builders

You may have also spotted our upscaled goat making regular appearances on our social media. Originally created as a fun project, it has become a studio mascot and a reminder of why we do what we do: experimenting, scaling things up, and enjoying the creative process along the way.
